Give Red this holiday season!

sally-katie-blogWith many people on vacation or busy with family and friends this time of year, the number of blood donors decreases while the need stays the same.

Local patients — our family and friends — will need blood to survive and enjoy the New Year. You play a role making that happen. And what better way to celebrate than to give the Gift of Life to someone in need?

Please join in the Give Red Holiday Campaign by giving blood, plasma or platelets at your nearest Center or Blood Drive between now and January 5.

What’s different from past holiday years?

This year both Christmas and New Year’s Day fall on Thursdays (our biggest collection day) and we will be closed. Additionally, the days before and after these holidays will be lightly attended as people will opt to take more time off. Our overall capacity during this month will be reduced by almost 20% but the usage from the hospitals we support remains the same: we still need over 20,000 people to donate blood.

Give Red is a plan to make sure we have enough donors to meet the needs of our community. The success of the campaign relies on our dedicated donors making the commitment now to give between December 1st and January 5th.

Will you donate blood this holiday season? Will you join our campaign to save lives? Your commitment to give can mean all the difference to someone critically in need of a resource that can only be supplied by generous donors such as yourself.

Every donor will make a difference; please make the choice to give today.

Make your commitment during these next five weeks to Give Red! (or Yellow, if you donate platelets!)
